Heads up, Kingwood! đź‘‹ We're on our way.

March 22, 2023 | Comcast Texas officially started construction in Kingwood back in January. We’re happy to report our crews continue their work in Elm Grove, Forest Cove, Kings Manor, Kings Mill, Mills Branch and Sherwood Trails neighborhoods. Over the course of this year, they’ll be building a next-generation network to bring Xfinity services to all of Kingwood. What does that mean? You’ll likely see us in your neighborhood in the months to come. How will you know it’s us? You’ll notice orange flags and paint by Texas811. You’ll also likely find materials from us in your mailbox or on your doorstep.

Construction in Kingwood will be completed in phases. We anticipate work will start soon in the Bear Branch and Woodstream neighborhoods.

We’ll continue to update this website as we gather more information on a specific timeline. Availability to sign up for and access services will depend on completion. Our team will work with residents to keep them informed.

Frequently Asked Questions

Before construction begins, you’ll likely see crews marking the ground. The activity may even be in your yard. This is critical work. It helps our business partners identify what is buried.

Please do not remove these flags or markings. They are very important in making sure construction is able to be completed as quickly and as safely as possible.

• Watch for the notifications. It is easy to miss a mailer, door hanger or phone call as spam.
• Keep your pets in your house. If access is needed to your backyard, please make sure your pets are safe and secure during the time period provided by Comcast.
• Be patient. Comcast is having a new, state of the art network built across these rural communities and bringing the full suite of services to Greater Houston. Comcast and our business partners are working to complete this work as quickly and safely as possible.
• Be aware of construction workers. All construction workers and people placing door hanger messages will be wearing a safety vest and a badge identifying themselves as a Comcast employee or an authorized Comcast contractor.

A large portion of the work will be done by The Aspen Company which is part of Quanta – a long term partner of Comcast specialized in building complex networks and infrastructures.

To provide Comcast service in your community, our team needs to place above ground connection points that link to underground fiber lines. These connection points are pedestals or peds, which are generally light green plastic housing that encloses and secures the network connections.

Peds serve specific network engineering needs, particularly in mountain towns. Their above ground design and placement provides a more secure connection space and avoid service impacting damage from water and ice. Above ground peds are also much easier and faster to service in the event of a network issue or outage.

To ensure the highest quality connection, peds need to maintain a relatively close distance to the associated home or business. The combination of these factors in addition to staying in the public right of way or utility easements creates some critical limitations on where peds can be placed.

Our business partners are working in collaboration with Comcast Design to minimize the number of pedestals in each neighborhood, to the extent possible, and place them in the least obtrusive locations.

Our team will be notifying potential customers of anticipated service dates as soon as construction begins.

What are utility easements?

Utility easements are one of the most common types of easements for private property, which generally allow public utility companies access to the property for the purpose of installing, repairing and maintaining utility equipment. These include: overhead electric, telephone and television lines, underground electric, water, sewer, telephone, and cable lines. They exist because it’s significantly more efficient for utility companies to run lines in straight lines through neighborhoods rather than around individual parcels of land. Construction Updates

Comcast Activates New $8M Fiber-Rich Network in City of Angleton

September 2022 | More than 7,500 homes and businesses in the City of Angleton now have access to Comcast’s new $8 million fiber-rich network. The next-generation network gives residents access to reliable and fast internet speeds that outperform competitors — up to 1.2 gigabits per second (Gbps) and business owners up to 100 Gbps. Additional efforts are underway to continue expanding Comcast’s network in the surrounding areas.

“For the last few years, Angleton’s business community has thrived with the help of Comcast Business solutions while residents have been vocal about wanting access to a fast and reliable network in their homes too,” Mitch Danklef, Comcast Senior Director of Business Development, said. “We are proud to be giving this community what they’ve asked for — an unbeatable next-generation network that residents and business owners can access. Our company has deep roots in rural America, and we are working to reach even more rural residents.

SS MotorTrendz spoke with Comcast Texas about why “super-charged” Internet matters to their family business.

“If I was going to compare high-speed internet to an engine in the automotive world,” Jerry Silguero said. “I would say it’s like having a super-charged vehicle, very fast. Turbo, super-charged is what you’re looking for in a performance vehicle. Adding high-speed performance in your Internet speed is what you’re looking for in Internet connectivity.”

Comcast Activates New $1.4M Fiber-Rich Network in City of Waller

Comcast also announced it will be investing $35,000 in digital equity grants to help close the digital divide in Waller, along with a donation of 150 free laptops for students in need.

“Reliable access to technology is a powerful driver of economic growth and innovation,” Waller County Judge Trey Duhon said. “We recognize Comcast plays a very important role in building and connecting the City of Waller and Waller County to all the opportunities broadband offers.”
