WATCH | Snow Cone Stand ‘Girl Boss’ Ready for a Taste of Reliable Internet

Ice cream being made for customer

It’s colorful, faith-based and has no shortage of character. It’s hard to miss Junie B’s Snow Cones while driving through New Caney. It’s pink. We mean very pink!  June Destiny Brewer, the 17-year-old ‘girl boss’ behind Junie B’s Snow Cones, wouldn’t have it any other way.

Watch the below video to get a taste of why the New Caney community can’t get enough of Junie B’s.

The snow cone stand has gained quite a following over its three seasons in business. The scorching Texas heat, super soft shaved ice and delicious flavors have set them apart from the competition, according to Brewer.

The business is located along Loop 494 in New Caney. It’s in an unincorporated area of Montgomery County where Comcast is currently expanding its Xfinity 10G Network this year.

“I heard they’re gonna be coming out here,” Pookie Brewer, June’s mother, said. “We’re looking forward to Comcast. We cannot wait until they get here.”

Pookie Brewer said their current internet service has been spotty and unreliable, which has been bad for business.

“Everything’s ran on internet. We got to use our phone hot spots because we’re always in some kind of an outage every other day.”

June Brewer said one of her favorite parts of running her own business is interacting with customers, putting smiles on their faces and wishing them a blessed day.

“Knowing you take that five to ten minutes out of your day to really speak life and encourage someone, it like sticks with them.”

The teen, who has a love for snow cones, was gifted the business by her parents when she was 14 years old.

“And the whole reason was because I said if she’s going to be coming out of school and just going to be homeschooled, she’s going to have to learn how to save money, make money, be able to look people in the face, talk to them,” June’s mother said.

The stand is now in its third season and recently added a food truck to serve the community at events.

Brewer said similar to Comcast, she has plans to expand in the near future.
