$75,000 in Scholarships Awarded to 30 Texas High School Seniors
Comcast NBCUniversal has awarded approximately $75,000 in scholarships for the 2020-2021 school year to 30 Texas students as part of its annual Leaders and Achievers® Scholarship Program. Students are selected for their outstanding community service, academic performance, and leadership skills. The award, funded by the Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation, is a one-time, $2,500 scholarship to be used toward undergraduate education-related expenses. Since 2001, more than $33 million has been awarded to nearly 30,000 high school seniors across the country as part of the Leaders and Achievers program.
“We are honored to recognize the amazing achievements of our Leaders and Achievers scholarship winners and to help them further their education,” said Ralph Martinez, Regional Senior Vice President, Comcast Houston Region. “They are top achievers in academics, leaders in the community and leaders among their peers. They represent our future, and Comcast NBCUniversal is proud to support them.”
Comcast, joined by Shannon LaNier, host of CW39 Morning Dose will recognize the students at a special one-of-a-kind “virtual celebration” event to be held in mid-June.
“Being a Leaders and Achievers recipient means that I am one step closer to paving my way through college, shared Charles Beare, Carnegie Vanguard High School graduate and scholarship recipient. “It’s an honor to be recognized as a recipient and I hope that I can lend a helping hand to others in the future so they can have the same opportunity that the Comcast Scholarship program has given to me.”
