Back to School Means Back to Budgeting – Let’s Talk Internet and Mobile Savings!

Back to school season is here! For more than a million families across Greater Houston, that means a major reset. There are new routines, new teachers, new supplies and clothes – maybe even a few first-day jitters. Back to school season is the perfect time to take a fresh look at your family’s budget, especially when it comes to internet service. A recent survey from www.top10.com found that 42% of people are thinking about switching internet providers to save money. If that sounds like you, Comcast’s Xfinity service has some great options worth checking out.

Consumer expert, Patricia Lopez, stopped by KHOU-TV and KPRC-TV to share ways to save with Back-to-School tech gear.

Xfinity has launched a new 5-Year Price Guarantee that offers internet service for as low as $55 per month without contracts. It’s peace of mind for families budgeting long-term.

“I love knowing that our internet bill won’t change for the next five years,” said Kimberly Nunez, a Houston mom of three daughters. “With everything else going up in price, it’s one less thing I have to stress about. We need to save where we can.”

Xfinity also offers Internet Essentials for qualifying low-income families. Prices start at $14.95 per month for Internet Essentials and $29.95 for Internet Essentials Plus. If your child receives free or reduced lunch, or your family receives housing assistance, Medicaid, or SNAP, you may qualify. Plus, discounted laptops and Chromebooks are available. To check your availability, log onto www.xfinity.com/getIE.

During the next few weeks, college students will return to their dorms or apartment living. Right now, Xfinity is offering deals to college students looking to reconnect for the new school year. Pricing plans start at $40 a month for 300Mbps up to 2 Gbps for $70 a month with a one-year price guarantee, and up to $200 worth of gift cards from Amazon or Uber Eats and up to two years of Peacock Premium streaming. Nunez knows her youngest girls – both in elementary school – aren’t quite ready for a phone of their own, but it’s a decision she and her husband will have to make soon. For those families considering adding a child to the family mobile plan now, it’s a good time to shop around. The Xfinity Mobile website has a great savings calculator where you can type in your current family cell phone plan and see how much the switch to the nation’s most reliable 5G network can save you. For those current Xfinity broadband customers who make the switch, Xfinity Mobile is offering one free mobile line for a year – perfect for adding a child to your plan.

“We know how important it is for families to stay connected, especially during the busy back-to-school season,” said Foti Kallergis, Senior Director of Public Relations and External Communications for Comcast Texas. “Our goal is to make internet and mobile services more affordable and accessible, so moms and dads can focus on what matters most—their kids.”

Don’t forget, sometimes the best way to get help is in person. Your local Xfinity store has friendly Retail Sales Consultants ready to walk you through all your options step-by-step. You can visit www.xfinity.com or www.comcasttexas.com to learn more or find a store near you.
