New Podcast Inspires, Amplifies Voices for Lone Star College-Montgomery Students

There’s a real power in having a platform to amplify your voice. Lone Star College-Montgomery students have a new platform thanks to a $50,000 investment by Comcast. The investment was used to create a cutting-edge podcast studio and offer digital skills training programs for students.

“Access to technology and the skills to use it are essential for success in today’s world,” said Misha McClure, Comcast Texas’ Director of External Affairs. “This partnership ensures that all learners can harness digital tools in meaningful ways — creating, connecting and building their futures.”

The newly launched Audio Visual Lab inside LSC-Montgomery’s library is a game-changer. Equipped with industry-standard technology, it’s a hub for creativity, collaboration and professional-quality recordings. The initiative promotes digital opportunities and opens doors to future careers in digital media.

But that’s not all! Comcast’s funding also supports a second podcast studio in the college’s marketing suite and provides stipends for students leading Maverick Minds, a dynamic student-run podcast. Each week, hosts will dive into student-centered topics, chat with industry leaders and explore innovations shaping the future. Plus, there will be a special monthly segment dedicated to digital literacy—covering everything from internet safety to essential digital skills.

We aim to amplify voices, spark change and make Lone Star College-Montgomery feel more like home – one episode at a time,” said Nasser Johnson and Adriana Martinez, LSC-Montgomery students, employees and Maverick Minds hosts. “We give Comcast a huge thank you for not just seeing our vision but believing it. Their $50,000 investment means more than just funding a podcast; it’s a powerful statement that students do matter.”
