‘Surprise Squad’ Scores a Slam Dunk with Conroe Granny Basketball Team
It was a winning play — having Comcast’s ‘Surprise Squad’ help the Texas 2 Steps up their game by providing them with Xfinity gear and a monetary donation. The Conroe granny basketball team, which consists of women 50 years old to 77 years old, traveled to Kansas City earlier this month to compete against other granny basketball teams in the nation.
Jeffrey David and Juan Sanchez, two local Xfinity technician supervisors recently stopped by one of the team’s practices to congratulate the team, help outfit them for their big game, and to help with their expenses in Kansas City. Take a look at the replay
“They come from Conroe which is a new area that we’re moving into and we just want to demonstrate to them that we’re going to be their new neighbors in the community, and we’re gonna provide for them not only with some gifts such as this but also with services in some cases they may not have,” Sanchez said.
Comcast announced plans to expand its Xfinity network and bring reliable, high-speed internet and a suite of products to Conroe earlier this year.
The Texas Two Steps placed third in their division during the championships in Kansas City. No sweat. We’ll get ’em next year, ladies!
