The Honor Cafe is a treasured business in Conroe by military and non-military communities alike. The restaurant is no ordinary place to eat. Owner Chris Sadler, a Marine Veteran, set out on a mission years ago to create an environment where people could celebrate the legacy of local veterans over good food and patriotic conversations. Customers say that mission was accomplished. Take a look! Backhand index pointing down

“The mission of Honor Café is to honor veterans and their families every day like it’s Veterans Day. It’s the number one thing we do,” Sadler said.

Sadler said he never sought out to own a restaurant. Everything just aligned. With his communications background from the military, his heart to care of veterans and his wife’s love of antiques, Honor Cafe was born.

“When we started the business, we started with a lot of my family’s things. Most of my family are military veterans. And my wife is an antiquer,” Sadler said. “And we would go to these places and I would see military-related artifacts in these shops and the way I felt, it wasn’t honorable for them to be there. It would be great if these families had the ability to have this stuff shown as well.”

Local veterans and their families bring in artifacts and of their loved ones who have served in the military to add to the restaurant’s decorated walls. Some are loaned while others are donated. It’s one-way families can honor their loved ones and share their legacies with others. The restaurant also has exhibits on display from H.E.A.R.T.S. Military History Museum.

James Hopper is a customer of the Honor Cafe. He’s also a United States Navy Veteran. Hopper says the atmosphere of the restaurant keeps him coming back.

“It’s my second home. I walk in here, and it feels like it puts its arms around you. It’s just a feeling of comradery, a feeling of welcome, a feeling of just sanctuary,” said Hopper.

Sadler said he’s looking forward to having Comcast Business internet services in Conroe. Comcast announced its expansion to the Montgomery County city earlier this year. Construction of the tech leader’s high-speed network is underway in several parts of Conroe.

“We run a business, and we need the internet to be working as hard as we work. Having Comcast in the neighborhood with us is going to be tremendous for our business and tremendous for our customers,” Sadler said. “I want them to work off their computers. I want them to work off their phones while they’re having a meal or having a dessert with coffee.”

Comcast’s commitment to the military community began with our founder, Navy veteran Ralph Roberts, and continues today through our many Military Engagement initiatives,” said Mona Dexter, Vice President of Military and Veteran Affairs at Comcast NBCUniversal. “We are proud to support veteran-owned businesses like Honor Café that celebrate our military community’s rich history and contributions. Marine veteran Chris Sadler’s dedication to military families is truly inspiring, and we are grateful to be part of his mission to honor the legacy of those who have served our country.”
