Comcast Veterans Support Those Who Served

November 19, 2020

There is a growing generation of veterans with new challenges to face. As veterans return home, many experience challenges adjusting back to civilian life, and organizations like U.S. Vets are there to ensure they provide all veterans with opportunities to live with dignity and independence – but they can’t do this alone.

Comcast has a longstanding connection with the military community – and, today several members of Comcast Houston’s VetNet Employee Resource group stepped up to support those who served. Donned in their VetNet apparel and face masks, Jeffrey David (ARMY), Robert Lobit (USAF), Benjamin Serrano (United States Marine Corps), and Brian Wright (ARMY) took pride in prepping kits for their fellow U.S. Vets.

“Of the veterans living in America today, 63,000 are chronically homeless,” shared Laney Kapgan, U.S. Vets Vice President of Development and Communications. “We were happy to have Comcast Veterans Network ERG reach out to provide hygiene and welcome kits, as well as host a backpack drive so our veterans can carry the supplies they need while looking for work.”

Comcast has thousands of teammates across the United States who serve the country as active-duty members, are veterans and military spouses. One of the many benefits of working at Comcast is the strength of the Comcast VetNet employee resource group, and their ability to connect with the community.

“A goal of VetNet is to inspire everyone to recognize and appreciate the unique values and skills that the military community brings,” shared Vicky DeJesus Comcast Houston’s Veteran Network President. “It is our mission to not only support our Comcast military family, but to make a difference in the community where we live, work, and play.”

The partnership with U.S. Vets was developed to ensure veterans, that may be homeless can carry the documents and supplies they need while actively looking for employment.
