Nearly 2,500 Volunteers Roll Up Their Sleeves To Help Make Change Happen On Comcast Cares Day

Comcast Cares Day

On May 4, nearly 2,500 Comcast employees, friends and families volunteered to make change happen in Houston for Comcast’s annual Cares Day. Houston Region employees were joined by dozens of community volunteers to impact seven project sites throughout the Greater Houston area. Adding to this year’s activities was the Cares Day Blood Drive and Kids’ Meal Project, which provided an opportunity for employees to donate resources to aid needy patients and color lunch bags for underprivileged children.

Throughout the Houston area, volunteers worked to impact the community through a variety of project sites. In partnership with BARC, Comcast NBCUniversal employees and their families joined Mayor Sylvester Turner to help landscape flower beds, power wash, repaint doors and do general cleanup on the grounds. In addition, several of our employees, gathered at the Houston Food Bank to provide assistance for those who experience the pain of hunger. Comcast Houston employees also provided tremendous support and manpower to paint neglected walls, plant shrubs and trees to enhance the landscape at several project sites including the Boys & Girls Clubs in Richmond, Covenant House and AAMA. Volunteers also spent the day tirelessly working to improve the facility and grounds of Camp Hope, a leading housing treatment facility dedicated to improving the lives of U.S. veterans suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. The Comcast Houston Region was again proud to rally as a team to support and impact several non-profit organizations in the area. Our company’s effort was nationwide and included more than 100,000 volunteers.

Comcast Cares Day

Through the company’s NBC Universal division which now includes Sky, Comcast Cares Day extended across the world in several countries, making it a worldwide event that “trended” on Twitter and several social media outlets. The work completed during Comcast Cares Day will help ensure brighter days for the communities we serve and truly exhibits that Comcast cares about our community. Thank you to employees, friends, families and community partners for making this year’s Cares Day a success!
