Employee Resource Groups Join Together to Lend a Helping Hand
It’s been more than one year since Hurricane Harvey affected the Houston area, but many families are still in need of support. In partnership with local non-profit Rebuilding Together Houston, our Unidos and Veterans Network (VetNet) Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) joined forces to provide much needed assistance and manpower to help residents of the Independence Heights community, one of the hardest hit areas following the hurricane.
Ms. Bessie, an elderly woman whose home was severely impacted by Harvey, was delighted to see more than 55 Comcast employee volunteers turn out over the course of two weekends to help refurbish her home. The results from their hard work paid off with a warm smile and tearful hug from Ms. Bessie and her granddaughter.
This ERG service project and collaboration was inspired by the work of Rebuilding Together Houston, which matches volunteers from across Houston with opportunities to support to our community’s most vulnerable citizens who were impacted by Harvey’s devastation. The joint service project was made possible through a Comcast NBCUniversal Challenge Grant, which encourages cross-functional employee engagement to promote the “4Cs”: Culture, Career, Commerce and Community.
