2018 Hispanic Hero Awards – Winners Announced

Hispanic Hero

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Comcast will honor eleven community volunteers during our annual Hispanic Hero Awards Gala, which will be held on Friday, September 21, 2018. During the event, Comcast will pay tribute to individuals from the Hispanic Community who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment in making a difference in the areas of volunteerism, mentorship, advocacy, and civic engagement.

The 2018 Hispanic Hero Awards Honorees were judged on criteria that included their personal impact in the community, helping further the mission of a nonprofit organization and overcoming personal obstacles. In addition to the 10 honorees, this year Comcast will recognize an outstanding Community Business Partner who has made a significant impact to the Houston community.

Our panel of judges for the awards included President & General Manager at Telemundo Houston Tony Canales; Administration and Regulatory Affairs Director Tina Paez; President and CEO of the Houston Food Bank Brian Greene; Founder of Rare Pearls Barbara Curtis; Project Coordinator of The Chauncy Glover Project Christina Porter; Comcast Houston’s Senior Vice President Ralph Martinez; Houston City Council Member Robert Gallegos; and Development Director at Easter Seals Greater Houston Kelly Klein.

Comcast NBCUniversal takes great pride in its Diversity & Inclusion company-wide accomplishments and the dedicated efforts of Governance, Workforce, Supplier Diversity, Programming and Community Investment. As one of the world’s leading providers of entertainment, information, and communications products and services, Comcast believes it has the responsibility to reflect the customers and audiences it serves in all aspects of its business.
